VICKSBURG RUN THRU HISTORY COURSE MAPS


The Vicksburg Run Thru History 10K run and 5K race walk courses are entirely within the boundaries of the Vicksburg National Military Park (VNMP.) The Cannonball Run 1 Miler course is located at the post race party held at the Vicksburg Hampton Inn and Suites. The 10K run will start at 8:00 a.m., the 5K race walk will start at 8:05 a.m., and the Cannonball Run 1 Miler will start during the awards ceremony at 10:30 a.m. USA Track & Field (USATF) race course certification is pending.


10K RUN COURSE

The Vicksburg Run Thru History 10K (6.2 mile) race starting line is located near the Vicksburg National Military Park Visitor's Center. The course begins by going past the VNMP Visitor's Center, continues past the Anshe Chesed Jewish Cemetery and continues along Confederate Avenue, past the Confederate President Jefferson Davis Monument.

The course takes you past the Second Texas Lunette, past the Confederate Lieutenant General John C. Pemberton statue on Pemberton Circle, the Mississippi Monument, the Confederate Brigadier General Lloyd Tilghman memorial, the Great Redoubt, and uphill to the Louisiana Monument.

At the intersection of Confederate Avenue and Pemberton Avenue, the course turns right and continues going downhill along Pemberton Avenue, passing the Surrender Interview Site, before turning right onto Union Avenue.

The course continues past the Minnesota Monument along Union Avenue uphill through a first trip through the Memorial Arch, past the Visitor's Center, goes under the Clay Street overpass and crosses over the railroad bridge where you turn right onto Confederate Avenue.

The course proceeds along Confederate Avenue and goes uphill past the Railroad Redoubt, past the Texas Monument, past the Alabama Monument, reaching Tour Stop 14.

The course continues along Confederate Avenue past the Kentucky Confederate Monument, Fort Garrott, the Georgia Monument, the Indiana Monument, turning onto Union Avenue.

The course continues along Union Avenue, past the Kentucky Monument, past the Iowa Monument, before turning back on to Confederate Avenue, crosses over the railroad bridge, before going under the Clay Street overpass.

The course continues past the bronze statue of Union Army Lieutenant Colonel William F. Vilas, onto the service road behind the Visitor's Center, turning right at the bottom of the hill before climbing uphill for a 2nd trip through the Memorial Arch towards the finish line located in front of the VNMP Visitor's Center.


5K RACE WALK COURSE

The Vicksburg Run Thru History 5K (3.1 mile) race starting line is located at the Memorial Arch near the Vicksburg National Military Park Visitor's Center. The course begins by going past the VNMP Visitor's Center, continues past the Anshe Chesed Jewish Cemetery and continues along Confederate Avenue, past the Confederate President Jefferson Davis Monument.

The course continues on Union Avenue past the Minnesota Monument, turning right at the bottom of the hill onto the park service road for an out and back .2 mile loop before turning right, continuing uphill through the Memorial Arch towards the finish line located in front of the VNMP Visitor's Center.


CANNONBALL RUN 1 MILER COURSE

The Vicksburg Run Thru History Cannonball Run 1 Miler is an out and back fun run for children ages 12 and under.

The starting line will be part of the post-race festivities held held at the Vicksburg Hampton Inn and Suites.
